That seems to be the basic idea of cable, to make you pay for something you don’t want. You don’t need it for movies, and your local PBS channel probably has better content. The rub is sports: If you like watching College and Professional sports, cable is the only viable option. And they know this of course: You can only get a robust sports package AFTER you pay for a lot of crap you don’t want. Good luck with your plan!
