Well folks: Of course I got my HP rating wrong. According to the best formulas I have been able to find the 55 pound thrust trolling motor, IF it is not losing brake hp in the gear box etc, and has a prop that is a good match for that motor, it will put out about 1/3 hp. Which means the 24 pound on will put out maybe 1/7th hp. Still beats the heck out of rowing LOL...Oh, one thing about the motor I ordered I like is that is has a flexible shaft, so if you hit an underwater log you don’t see it don’t just snatch the teeth right out of the adjustment bracket, or snap the shaft right in two, Chuck

Folks: We have a 36 pound thrust foot controlled trolling motor on front of our 14’ jon boat, and a little 24 pound thrust regular motor on back to speed it up getting to where we’re going to be fishing. But, I just now ordered a new 55 pound thrust Minn Kota to replace the 24 pound thrust one, as well as a new deep cycle battery to go along with the 105 amp hour one I already have. I may put all three motors on there and water ski out to where we start “trolling” around the banks, drop offs etc hunting the fish this yr LOL..Can’t wait to see what it will do because it seems like a motor that is pushing the boat like the little one does, goes faster pound per pound of thrust that the foot controlled up front does when pulling the boat. If what I read it true, that will give us a combined 4 1/2 hp or so, which is great because gas engines are not allowed in the lakes we fish anyway. Chuck No virus found in this message.
