Hi Gary and all swappers, I’m still here battling to come back from the stroke.
Found recently that my debilitating pain is called Degerne-Roussy Syndrome or
“post-stroke central pain syndrome.” Also called thalamic stroke pain syndrome.
Long story short, the pain meds have failed and left me worse off with the pain
plus the side effects- which are themselves terrible. So for the last 3 months
I’ve been battling back to see what’s going to be my life. I am just able to
get back to my fly room after 3 months out of commission. I’m doing plenty good
health-wise- it’s just the pain issues are out of hand. The pain gets so bad I
can’t use my right hand even though it can do some things. It also effects my
right leg that way. So now I head to the bench to sort, divide, and repackage
18 sets of flies, plus tie my set. I’ll give an update after my first flies.
I believe I’m waiting for one set to arrive. If my hand works, it shouldn’t
take very long. If it’s all gone from the pain, I have a fall-back plan or two.
