Tony and Don: I have non diabetic nerve pain in my legs and feet and it hurt
so bad it’s as Tony said it would make a grown man ry. The pain management doc
I was seeing put me on Lyrica and it helped for a cpl yrs to a point. Then, I
started seeing the family doc I see now in 2013 and he didn’t like Lyrica as he
said it had too many side effects (and the Lyrica had stopped helping me
anyway) with other meds I was taking, so he asked me if I’d ever taken
Neurontin and I told him “yrs ago, but it did no good, but I’m in such pain
I’ll give it a whirl again. I tried it and walla, just like a magic bullet, it
stopped my leg and foot pain in it’s track within about three days. They say
your body changed every seven yrs or so, so I guess maybe that’s why it didn’t
work at all some 20-25 yrs ago, but works like a charm now. The Neurontin that
is. So anyway, it might be worth asking your respective docs about trying it.
Sometimes med that have been around 50 yrs work better than the newer ones I
guess. Good luck and prayer to you both either way. Chuck

Don, I sympathize with you on the pain. I have what they call Phantom Pain..
Even though the foot and leg is gone the pain is still there. At times the pain
can go on for hours, it is enough to make a full grown man cry.. I have also
developed the shakes.

I had planned to tie at one session at the Sowbug Show in two weeks but I am
have to drop out on it.

Had 10 days in the hospital, got out Sunday, still not having good days. I
think they have me on too many meds.

Speaking of Sowbug, show will have over 150 tiers over the three day show. 165
are signed up.

Hi Gary and all swappers,

I’m still here battling to come back from the stroke. Found recently that my
debilitating pain is called Degerne-Roussy Syndrome or “post-stroke central
pain syndrome.” Also called thalamic stroke pain syndrome.

Long story short, the pain meds have failed and left me worse off with the pain
plus the side effects- which are themselves terrible.

So for the last 3 months I’ve been battling back to see what’s going to be my
life.

I am just able to get back to my fly room after 3 months out of commission. I’m
doing plenty good health-wise- it’s just the pain issues are out of hand. The
pain gets so bad I can’t use my right hand even though it can do some things.
It also effects my right leg that way.

So now I head to the bench to sort, divide, and repackage 18 sets of flies,
plus tie my set.

I’ll give an update after my first flies.

I believe I’m waiting for one set to arrive.

If my hand works, it shouldn’t take very long. If it’s all gone from the pain,
I have a fall-back plan or two.

Cheers, DonO
