Alright guys, 40 or so of you put your 2 cents worth in on the subject.
One even wrote a poem about it ;~)) Not me this time! But since the
question has come up, I feel compelled to give my "red neck" answer. I'm
a fly fisherman and when I have my fly rod in hand, I use traditional
flies, be they dry, wet or bass or bluegill bugs.

I'm a member of the dreaded "chunking and winding" fraternity and as
such, I use my Bantam 10X and Bantam 100 bass reels and bass rods. Along
with them, I use deep diving, shallow, suspending and floating baits. I
use spinner baits. I use buzz baits, but I don't use flies on my big
bass rigs. I'm also a member of the "spin fishing" fraternity and use an
"open faced" spinning reel to toss tiny, heaven forbid, Rapalas, tiny
worms, etc.

What I'm getting around to in my rambling way is to say this:

When I fly fish - I use only traditiona flies, no flies dressed up to
look like bass lures
When I chunk & Wind - I use artificial lures designed especially for the
C & W gang
When I spin fish, I use artificial lures designed specifically for my
spinning outfit.

I don't cross over, but if you go fishing with me in my 60 mph bass
boat, you'll see examples of all three of the above ways to fish laying
on the deck of my boat. If the bass are not hitting my buzzbait, I'll
lay down my C&W rig and try my spin outfit, if that doesn't work, then I
always have my fully rigged fly rod with a muddler or clouser ready.
Course I don't fish those tiny NM streams in my bass boat, so when I'm
trout fishing, I use only my traditional trout stuff.

I've told all of you before. I ain't no PURIST !

By the way, Byard. Thanks for putting a little "levity" back into the
list tonight. I was beginning to think the VFB List was another list
trying to disguise itself in VFB clothing ;~)) I've been ROTFLMAO
TOO!

Back under my rock - Move over Keith
