Rick,
I once tied some leech patterns like this where the marabou was tied in entirely by the tips. It was a special order and the customer reported the fly to be more succesful than when it was tied in the conventional way.

Subject: [VFB] marabou ?

Was curious the other day and tied a few patterns by folding the marabou fibers over to form a wing on a fly.  When the fivers are to long I tie it in fold the end over toward the tail from the head and bind down.  I then tear the ends so they are near the same length.

Put them in the tub ( my wife did not ask) and pulled them thru the water beside a fly tied conventially.  The marabou seemed to move diffently.

Anyone tried this on fish?
