Del, you can fish most of the rivers (but not all) on the reservation. YOu have to
buy a daily permit which costs around $4.00. They will give you a brochure when you
buy the permit which explains the limited rules and has a map of the rivers.

The Cherokees stock the rivers in the resevaton pretty heavily during the prime
tourist seasons. I am not sure how much they do during the winter, but I am pretty
sure there will be plenty of fish.

If you prefer wild fish, you can fish the streams in the Park. Cherokee is just next
door to the Oconaluftee River, Bradley Fork, Straight Fork and others. You must have
either a NC or TN license to fish there. I am not sure what a non-resident short term
license is, but a year round non-resident license (including trout) waS $42 last year.
 See http://www.ncwildlife.org/index.htm for more info.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to send me an email.
