The Scud Swap that was recently completed sent me some wonderful scud patterns. If the host of that swap is still out there, he might be cohersed into giving you the E-mails and the names of the patterns that were submitted.
     Mine was an easy scud. Called it the Ostrich Herl Scud. Here is the recipe:
     Materials: #20 scud hook
                     Brass bead (if desired)
                      ostrich herl
                       tying thread (8/0) 

Fix bead on to hook, insert in vise. Start thread and wrap to bend. Tie in 2 pieces of herl, advance thread to front. Wrap herl in touching turns to behind bead and tie off. Whip-finish. Trim sides and top close to herl stem, careful not to cut it. Done.
