I do, when I'm fishing for white bass on the rivers around Waco.  I use a Teeny T130-gets the fly down about 3-4 feet which is just what I need.  Then when I strip the line back, the fly raises and falls.  Gets'em most of the time.

Does anybody out there regularly use a sink tip for river fishing?

For fishing high creeks for steelhead all the time.  I have a two weight kit by Orvis which does okay.
