I did not get in on this the other day but here is
a quick and effective fly.
The One Plume Damsel
Hook: 3x long Streamer hook, Sz 8-14
Thread: To match Marabou color
Tail: Marabou
Body: Marabou
Wing : Marabou
Colors: Olive, Brown, Black, Purple, Orange
Start thread on the shank. Add lead wire if
desired. I don't use any.
Take a Blood marabou plume and stroke all the
fibers toward the tip. Use a short section of this
tip for the tail. Tie in the plume at that point.
Bring the rest of the plume back over the tie in
point and over wrap. This covers the tie in thread
wraps. Advance the thread forward and stop about
one eye width behind the eye. Take the plume and
twist it clockwise on itself to form a rope. Wrap
this rope on the shank forming a segmented body.
Trap the plume behind the hook eye. Fold the rest
of the plume back and over wrap to form a head.
Cut the plume end leaving enough to form a short
wing.
This is a real effective fly for trout, and warm
water fish.
