Hi Kieth, Golding�s �Wonder Wing� was a wonderful improvement but it required the use of two feathers with their centre stalks intact, one feather for each wing of the dry fly, effectively doubling the weight of the floating fly. The peeling method reduces the weight by dispensing with the unnecessary bulk of a second feather. In addition, the centre stem of the single feather can be snipped out which enhances the silhouette with a life-like form. So is it a variation on the Wonder wing? I'd have to say yes but also the extended body used by Harry Darbee. I like to think of it as the next step in the evoloution of the tying technique.
