Keith - I can't remember if it was a British pattern book or not, but I do remember thinking that there were alot of British patterns in it, so maybe it was.
Do you usually tie the back and tail on Baby Dolls in the same color? I usually make the body and tail the same color, but sometimes I will lay a few strands of the back color on top of the tail to give it a more consistant look over the entire length of the fly. For some time, I have tied a fly that has a short yarn tail and a chenille body. It is essentially a woolly worm without the hackle. DonO tells me that it is an old pattern called a "Doll Fly".
