I am wondering way is that Largemouth bass
fisherman use hooks that are seeming more suited to saltwater fishing. I
am just wondering because I get a lot of top water action here for all three
basses Bucket, bugle, & small mouth. Plus lots of pike & musky
action pike to 20 lbs & musky over 30lbs. It is a bout a half &
half deal. My 8 or 9 wt when I go after the brutes. 4 to 6 wt on the
others. My Question Is why are such heavy hooks used on the ole
bucketmouth? I am fishing on Lake St Clair which has a very large
population of all the fish mentioned. Even with the extremely heavy
fishing pressure, most of the fish die out ever seeing a fishers hook! I
have talked to the fishery biologist on several occasions. So if you musky
freaks are sitting down. I will tell you they test netted 3 musky
over 70 pounds! the largest being just under 75. So if you are looking to
hook up with some fine fishing, a shot at world record. Give this lake a
try!
