Dan,
     I was casting both side arm (my usual) and overhead. Also, I have never been good at "Hauling" or "Shooting" line, but I was doing it with the reel turned.
     I had thought about the spine, and to check it I got out my other rod. Same results!
     I think I am going to go to the fly shop tomorrow and get one of their "high dollar" rods and test it on that. Going to watch on of the shop pros cast with it first, to make sure it cast good normally.
     If I cast better with the rod turned on the shop rod, then heck with it. I will just keep it turned.
