Iain,
Crappies are a wonderfully fun fresh water fish. They name is pronounced
"croppie" most everywhere else that has them except the Carolina, where we
refer to them as crappies. Spelling is still the same. I guess it's just a
southern thing.

Crappies fight like bears, have paper thin mouths and are great fun on a
fly. I hope you get a chance to try them sometime. If you are going to
take some of your catch for dinner, it is probabley one of the finest
freshwater fish I have ever tasted.
If you need a great fly recipe for them a member on our list,
[EMAIL PROTECTED], has the finest I have ever tried. Black woolly buggers
also work very well.
