Iain If your in the southern part of the country, like Florida, crappie are called Specks or Slabs. I've experienced living down ther Crappies like bright colors and when the hit, it's usally subsurface. Since these fish look up at what they're going to attack, you'll find and maybe see them rise and do I half twist when attacking the fly.
