Title: A Copper John
Lane,

Now that you know your OLD flies will catch fish it sounds like it's time to put what you have left in a safe place.  You'll never be able to replace them...

More to the point.  I am green with envy.  (where did you go?)

I'm scheduled for my THERAPY this weekend.  Hitting the GREEN.

That was pure therapy!!  Fishing was slow all day.  Then at about 6:30 one fish poked his nose out, so I waited about another 10 minutes just watching.  One would dorsal here, another there.  The next thing I knew, the hole was on fire.  I was using my typical bead head followed by a very simple hair's ear.  The next thing I knew, wham! one broke me off.  Agh!  All I had left were bead head hair's ears and they wouldn't even look.  I only had one option.  I had about 15 flies I tied when I was in eighth grade, my very first flies.  I tied one on - one of the real ugly sorts, kind of looks like a head full of curlers - and sent it out.  Wham! took another one.  Things were looking up.  The hooks were so old however, that the second fish I hooked on that fly snapped it at the barb.  They were all rusted from being in my box for so long.  Anyway tied another one on and managed a few more nice fish.  I was laughing right out loud I was having so much fun landing them on those ugly old flies.

Although I spotted several fish up to 21 I only landed several 15-16" fish.  The best new was, that they were all very healthy rainbows.  Best fight I have had in years.!!!
