Bart, DonO, Wally,
interesting quest. I found in a book a pattern wich resembles a stickleback.
Probably this is what you are looking for.

The pattern is called Polystickle and is made mainly from floss and swiss
straw.

Hook: streamer hook, long shank
Thread: black
Body: black floss for the rear 2/3 of the body, red for the front 1/3. The
body is covered with clear plastic foil
Beard: red hackle
Back and tail: Brown raffia.

Funny enough, the pic shows a fly whith a white and red body - although the
pattern description calls for a black floss...

Tie in the raffia at the hook's bend. Cut a fish tail form into the raffia,
leave a second part for later use.
Form the body with the floss and ty in the heard
pull the second strip of rafia from the bend to the hook's eye to form the
back. Tie in, varnish and paint some eyes on the head.

The pattern was invented by Dick Walker in 1966 and published in "trout and
Salmon".

Different color combinations are allowed!

Regards
Rene
