I have a 3-piece 9' 7 wt. RPL+. I enjoy casting it. Can't tell the difference between a two piece and three-piece rod. I only use this rod about once a year for saltwater fishing, so I have to get use to casting it before I go on a trip. I don't know what you are going to fish for with an eight weight, but I have caught Trout, Carp, Redfish, Bonefish, Baracuda and a small permit on my seven weight, and it has been more than enough rod in each case.
