Hawaii!!!
I'm green with envy, man !!! Don't worry
about getting rusty with the old flyrod, just get used to seeing ALL of your
backing and testing the knot at the reel quite often. Just make your
longest double-haul cast on your 8 wt, cut the fly line there, and then cram all
the backing you can get onto that reel- you'll need it ALL!!!
Trade your dry flies for poppers and hang on for dear
life! A 50 pound trevally will make you forget there ever was a trout, or
at least ease the homesickness.
Get some connections made there for some salt-water
excursions and who knows? You may have a few of us 'salty' listers camped out on
your front lawn (or a deserted beach nearby), savoring the flyfishing adventures
in your new home waters.
DonO
P.S. Let us know how you're doing when you get settled
in.
