My favorite bluegill fly is a plain chartreuse popper with white rubber legs. But, as you know, they'll hit just about anything!

You got that right. As kids, we would take discarded cigarette butts (unfiltered back then) and put em on a hook. Seems gills like the nicotine? My favorite is a #16 caddis emerger wiggled and allowed to descend.
