Great story! Where is Holywood Beach? The L.A. area? I live in Tucson and often travel to San Diego and surf fish the Torrey Pines area. Lots of Corbina and surf perch. I'm sort of a beginner in So. Cal Surf. Last time out I caught 1 (my only Corbina) and several Perch. For there size thes fish have power. I plan to head out there soon, everything in Arizona is closed due to fires. I also fish the Sea of Cortez (Rocky Point) for CorVina; sort of a sea trout, but the temp is sweltering there at 100+ with high humidity. Salt water flyfishing is great; enjoy.
