I have a Sage DS2 two piece 3wt that I have owned for about a year. I love
it. The action is probably medium to medium fast, I'm not sure, but it will
make a real soft presentation of a small dry fly or will punch one out 60
feet. I have caught many little rainbows, browns, and smallmouth bass on
this rod and its lightness makes fishing for these small fish really fun.
Caught a half a dozen or so 20+ inch rainbows on it on a little private
water in northeastern Arizona and also on the Frying Pan in Colorado and it
handled these fish quite well. However, I like to fish without a net
hanging off of me and it's not easy to control a big fish up close with it.
A really great little rod in my opinion. I own an Orvis Trident TL 6wt in a
midflex and I really like this rod also. Can't beat the Orvis 25 year
unconditional warranty. Your wife or girlfriend breaks the rod over your
head, send it to them and they fix for free. All you pay is the postage.

Try looking for a new or used rod on ebay or the Virtual Fly Shop auction
page. Can save a bunch of money there. I have a Sage GLF 4 piece 9wt I
bought on VFS last month. Paid just over $100 for it. Called Sage before
purchasing and their repair prices were really reasonable about $37 I think
to replace a broken section. Checked just in case the rod had damage when
it got to me. Have had several people tell me both companies are really
lenient about covering warranty claims for second owners, but I have no
first hand knowledge about this.
