Hello All,

I live in NH and have used my float tube for many trout ponds. I had an
experience 5 years ago where I was fishing in Shawtown pond, which is a
trout pond, but also has lily pads. In the middle of the day I found
myself surrounded by 4 turtles. I hauled a&% out of there. I didn't notice
if they were snapping turtles. Since that experience, I have been hesitant
on using the float tube in bass ponds and other weedy turtle sanctuaries.
However saying that, I saw a 25-pound snapper in Clough pond - another trout
pond.

Does anyone have any insight about turtles (especially snappers) while float
tubing? I would very much like to hear from bass fisherman in the south
where also water moccasins might be present. Just wondering if my
hesitancy is just or unjust. Does anyone float tube with gators? Got
guts...

I have also had experiences with a pair of territorial loons who chased me
off of "their" pond. They kept going under and resurfacing closer and
closer. One bird would go under while one stayed on top. They played
underwater leapfrog and I got the message.

I have a U-Boat - not a V-boat so you are somewhat helpless in terms of
motor capability.

I am really anxious to see what everyone thinks on this subject.

Best Regards.
