Ok all time for me to chime in.
 Here in the northwest we almost always wear our waders when in our float
tubes ( cold water here). You have less of a chance of flipping your float
tube then falling in while wadding a stream. It is a good idea to wear a
floatation devise while in a float tube for safety.
