Wow!!!  Forgot that Bob had taken those shots !! Would love to take credit, but those fish are
a real tribute to Bob's skill as a guide.  He is amazing. !!!  He poles and poles and poles
and all of a sudden you hear, " There they are."   And the canoe goes off in a particular
direction. Maybe 10 minutes later you see what he sees.

Another 10 minutes to line up the canoe with the wind and sun . The fish were
feeding in deeper water (4-6 feet)  and right on the bottom and I used a #2 Carolyn's
Shrimpi.  It is my go to #1 choice in the Lagoon and IRL

The trick that day was to make a fairly good cast , maybe 65-70 (the longer the better)
to the outside edge of where they were tailing and pray they would move in that direction.
If you cast into them they were gone.  Like all big redfish, they were spooky.  And these guys were
real spooky.  I had probably 12 shots from 6AM to noon and spooked the first three opportunities.

Then realized they had to be finessed.  Next casts were just ignored.  Of the final
6-8 shots, I had 3 hook ups.  They were great fighting fish.  5 or more hard runs each.
Deep into the backing.  As hot as it was, it was a workout and those fish were reminded
me why one hookup is worth all the hours of looking and waiting--- and all the days when you get rained on
or rained out.  And all those days when you put the rod up saying "oh well, the scenery was great
and I will get them tomorrow."

With the Jewish Holidays, my next two weekends are shot, but we have to fish together soon.
October is  one of my favorite months here
