Sorry my last post to this was so abrupt, I was
heading out the door for a one-on-one remedial spey
casting class with a guy in Bend. Mainly learned that
what I was doing was all wrong (well, not wrong maybe,
but certainly could stand a lot of improvement). Spent
about 4 hours on the water and learned a lot.
I was just by Numb Butt and talked to Shawn who I
guess will be your guide, are you scheduled for the
17th? Said they're hitting pretty good around Maupin
and down river. Two guys they guided yesterday caught
around 15 altogether and another group caught "a
bunch". There's a couple of groups out on the river
today. I'll stop by the store tomorrow and see how
they did and see if I can get some specifics on flies
to bring, etc.
Shawn was just a tad unhappy about having to stay and
mind the store what with all the nice weather and
everybody getting into fish, so he's looking forward
to guiding you. I told him you were a VFB list
acquaintance and to treat you extra nice! ;>)
I did get to fish the Deschutes from Rattlesnake to
Ferry Canyon about two week ago with zero luck. Too
early, too warm, too inept, who knows? Anyway, I'll
get back to you tomorrow with more info.
