Viscosity??? Viscosity of what??
I'm not an expert but it might be an issue on certain clipped patterns, chemicals left over from the sharpening. It's just a guess. I just like the idea of getting the tippet through the hole with my eyesight. I started tying when my buddy who used to sell me flys for cheap got in the habit over getting cement over the eye. Byard says some of my flys fell apart for one swap some years back and he had to "fix" them. Now I use hard as nails carefully and seldom have a clogged eye. BTW, Byard is a sissy if he can't even put in a recipe for the chile swap (he uses bell peppers only). ;-O
