In response to Don O's information about this being a Federal crime.  Yes, technically it is.  It is wire fraud, not mail fraud, and the Secret Service has jurisdiction over wire fraud, i.e. internet credit card items.  FBI does work some wire fraud, at least in my area here in Oregon, but Secret Service does the majority of them.  The problem is, most U.S. Attorney's offices areound the country has a set minimun loss limit before they will consider prosecuting the case.  Here in Oregon it's $250,000.  I can almost gaurantee you that no Federal agency will even consider looking into a $2000 loss, no matter where in the country you are.  It's insane trying to get these cases prosecuted.  Most companies, banks, and businesses write the losses off and have insurance cover it, which utimately raises our cost through higher prices.  It's not right, I agree, but that is the way it's done.  Sorry to break the bad news.
