Don,

Try deleting all your folders. Your deleted items, your sent items, etc.
When you delete incoming mail it goes to a deleted folder.  That folder does
not automatically empty. You have to set the amount of posts or the amount
of time
 that goes by before the system knows to empty the folder. If that folder
over fills
( i.e. 10,000-15,00 items),  it can screw up other function due to lack of
resources.

I am referring to the deleted items within outlook, not the recycle bin on
your desktop.
