Thanks John & Mel, I tied a couple tonight and the results were much better. I focused on paying closer attention to where I tied the bucktail and using fewer wraps. I realized I have a tendency to overwrap everything and this leads to longer heads. I also tried to leave a little bare space between the bucktail and the eye; this seemed to help with the bulkiness of the bucktail towards the head.
