To Del and all dry fly tiers:

I thought I had covered this before, but here goes-

A winger cape is a smaller hen neck from the black laced family.  The contour of the feather has been altered to provide a beautiful silouette for dry fly wings.  Spade-tips have been used for years, but lacked the perfect profile and durabilty tiers wanted.  So Tom developed this line solely for wings on dries.

The neat thing is that the neck is useable from the tiny ear area feathers to the bottom big feathers, and not for buggers, for wings.  The shape is the same, so the cutting is just smaller as you get to the large feathers.

There are more attributes, but they differ with selection and would take too long to describe.
I suggest just trying out a black/white flame laced winger to start.  The neutral colors go well with all ties, and they can be markered different colors.

Ask Bob Haering if he likes them.

Don, have you tried the Winger capes yet?
If you can't get them, send me your snail-mail and I'll send you some
samples.

What exactly is a Winger cape? I have only heard of them here on the VFB.
