MURF,
Soft hackles are personal favorites as well... By the by & speaking of Soft hackles..Did you see that article in the Winter 2002 issue of Fly Tyer, on the "Peabody" pattern???? Lemme see if I get this; Capt. Bob Rodgers "Invented" this pattern; A Peacock & Brown Soft Hackle. Unless said Capt. is about 500 years old, He didn't invent it...I've been tying the exact same pattern for about 20 years now!!! & I'm certian the same dressing can be found from older sources then myself. He may have "discovered" the dressing on his own, but Inventing it....cut me some Slack, he didn't invent anything.... ... any of our VFB Members from the British Isles can probally locate a English/Scottish source for the same dressing & it's likely to be 100 years old plus. Drives me nuts when Folks claim to have "invented" a pattern, that if they'd done their homework/research would realize they just re-discovered an "old but a Goodie". It also bothers me that a Magazine would publish an article without researching said subject. I guess anything to sell the Publication.... My $0.02 on the article....
