On the occasion of my 60th birthday, I have several gifts for my fellow
listers !!!
First is the movie �Standing in the Shadows of Motown�. It is an hour an
half
of great music and story of the band and musicians behind the great sound
from Motown between 1959 and the mid-70�s. Some of the music is the best
Rock and Rhythm�n� Blues ever produced. And while I was listening to a more
intense blues in those days, John Hurt, Brownie and Sonny, Charlie
Musselwhite, Lightin� Hopkins, Blind Lemon, Robert Johnson, etc, I was
PARTYIN HARD to the Motown sounds and the Stax/Volt musicians.
Being in Boston for those years was really the best!!!. With the exception
of
Robert Johnson I saw all of the above mentioned Bluesman as well Parker,
Byrd, Mulligan, Baker, etc and the parties were legendary. Yup--sex, drugs,
and rock�n�roll.
GO SEE THE MOVIE�You will be in your mid-twenties for a couple of hours !!
