Good Morning - V----F----B!

My purpose in sending the "celebs I know" thing was not meant to impress you or to brag.  I don't know any of the Fly Fishing Moguls like the many of you that responded about Dave Whitlock, Gary Fontaine, Jack Dennis, et al.    I wish I did, but the opportunity has never come my way.  Maybe I'm just a teeny bit jealous! The closest I've come is with Ed Engle last year when I recruited him to give a program for our TU chapter.  With my "celebs" thing, I was "clumsily", trying to point out the tremendous "reach" of the members of this list in the people we know.  It's truly phenomenal!

Yes, I was blessed during my 36 years of professional Scouting to get to know some mighty famous people, not from anything I did, but because being a professional Scouter with the BSA put me in close proximity to them quite often. But that was not the thing that was most important to me.  Read on.

Jeff Frye said it best in his reply to me. " Good things come to good folks. I appreciate your service to helping America's youth. I'm sure that the stories of the successes of Scouts far exceed your brushes with greatness. -Jeff " Jeff is totally right.  When I have a former Scout, or some who are now in their late 40's, call me or send me a letter to thank me for making the Scouting program available to him or as one Scout did - thank me for saving his life in Vietnam when he was lost from his patrol, by his using the Outdoor Survival skills I taught him at summer Scout camp until he re-connected with them.  These are the things that matter to me - Helping someone.  Always has been. Always will be.

Have A Great Day !
