I'd have to agree with the gent at your local fly shop...if limiting myself to one rod for both Steelhead & Saltwater...I would go for the 8wt. set-up. I own a 8wt set up & a 9wt. set up...year in & year out the 8wt. set up gets more use. sorry to throw you a loop like that... But since you own the 9wt....use it. There's always next christmas.
