Question about 8 wt's. Im looking to buy one, a St. Croix most likely. If I were to get a saltwater model, and a saltwater reel ect. could I also use it in freshwater? I want to fish for Rockfish in the Bay, but also plan to use it this summer for small and largemouth bass. Any help or personal stories of why not to buy a saltwater setup and use it for freshwater is much appreciated. Thanks alot!

I'd have to agree with the gent at your local fly shop...if limiting myself to one rod for both Steelhead & Saltwater...I would go for the 8wt. set-up. I own a 8wt set up & a 9wt. set up...year in & year out the 8wt. set up gets more use. sorry to throw you a loop like that... But since you own the 9wt....use it. There's always next christmas.
