I use the crisp packet buzzers here in Ireland from March till the end of July, Listen they work, u have to learn to fish them right, thats all.They are as u guys say AWESOME..Also the tying needs to be right..

Here in Ireland we use the epoxy midge with a cream or badge hackle to great
effect for wild trout on the western lakes.

I picked up this thread when our American cousins were talking about using
wrappers as fly tying materials. I remarked that in the UK the vivid orange
of a crisp packet is used for the wing buds of a fly . Ashley was able to
complete the picture- epoxy midge.
I have not had much luck using these flies. Maybe I have been fishing them
wrong. Certainly the magazines seem to swear by them but they seem to
talking about rainbow fisheries. The wild browns I fish for seem to prefer a
fly with a bit more movement - at least a hen hackle.
