Although you asked for responses off-line, thought I would answer on-line
and also pose a question to the group. I find Stevens' book, Trout and
Terrestrials, worth the price, even though it is British and some flies/insects
aren't found or aren't common in the States (or Canada - you're from frozen
Edmonton, right?)
For the list (and in keeping with Byard's attempt to keep this a fly-tying
list), wondering what other book resources exist for Terrestrial patterns
besides these three: Tying and Fishing the Terrestrials by Wilson (I consider it
dated but still an interesting curiosity), Tying and Fishing Terrestrials by
Almy (a basic "classic"), and Terrestrials by Steeves & Koch (best I've
found).
Are there other Terrestrial-based pattern books out there? And I
suspicion there are "pet" patterns among the VFB members - maybe a book in
progress?
