Folks,

On this horse hair topic: An interesting pattern, and very popular
locally in Idaho around the town of Mackay, is the Mackay Special.
This fly, almost a compulsary pattern on the Big Lost river, is tied
with horse hair and red wool. The body is semi-woven, with a
palmered furnace hackle. The remaining hair folded back over the
body in a down wing.

I do not have a picture of just the fly here, but this Michigan
smallmouth liked it:

Cheers,
