What kind of rabbit fur are you using? I've had good success with both shallow and deep rabbit fur "leeches" tied with zonker strips in various colors. Simple pattern with a zonker strip tail and a palmered cross-cut zonker strip body. You can add crystal flash or flashabou to the tail for the extra shine. Caught plenty of bass and the occasional overzealous green sunfish. For the deep ones I'll just wrap the shank liberally with .020 lead wire and to make them go deeper I'll add either a silver or gold cone head weight near the eye. When the fur gets wet on the first cast they usually sink at about 1 ft/sec. or faster. Maybe use a sinking or sinking tip line with a shorter leader to help get them down.
Hope this helps,
Kev

First, for everyone.
Does anyone have anything to do with empty thread spools? I have a few of them sitting around, and it seems like there should be something cool to do with them. Knowing you guys, im going to get a bunch of answers.
This next one, im targeting more towards the rockfish fisherman, but please, if you have idea's, PLEASE tell me.
Im tying up a fly using rabbit fur, and that stuff does NOT want to sink. I have about an ounce of wieght on the hook and a 10 inch by 3/4th inch of rabbit and its still not sinking. Im now looking for a body material. I want something with bulk, wieght, and a little flash wouldnt hurt. I need to get this fly to SINK(read, SINK). In particular, this body material H-A-S to be white, or light colored(cream is fine, but not dark). I'd like it to have some action to it. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks alot in advance.
