Rob's choice of RPLXi is a good one. So is the Thomas and Thomas Horizon series. ( In fact a real personal favorite in a 9wt) A really good choice right now is the GLoomis Nautikos. They are designed exclusively for Saltwater and can be had for $200 or less on E-Bay. I am curious about the 10' length. Do you know why your friend wants the longer rod ??
