Evenig Folks,
After looking over the comments again I have formulated a cross section
of the group that responded. Obviously we have a couple of regulars missing,
( Don O, Jimmy D, and Byard), but I was still able to get an idea. So
without further adieu, here it is.
Most, if not all of the respondents were not "Born" into fly fishing or
tying. The "Acquired" a desire, on their own, to seek out this marvelous
craft. Almost all reached the point where they are now by seeking out and
experimenting on their own. All have higher expectations of themselves, but,
at the same time are more than willing to share what they know. Each
developed from shear determination and the aspect of "Cant" or "Impossible"
was not in their mind. The current ages range from 11 to 70+ and all have
the wisdom afforded them of "Experience" gained through effort.
In short, This group, and for that matter the VFB group, comprise the
"Salt of the earth". All are willing to share, all have gained experience
that is useful and willing to put it forth. But most of all, the group holds
a special place for friends and family. The ties that bind are stronger than
the best "Clinch" knot and support the soul with loving grace. The wisest
sages seek out the list and sit in quiet awe as the knowledge is passed
without favor or price. The spirit of the group is for each, supporting and
caring, again without favor or price.
It is truly a marvelous thing, this group who seldom meet in life. But
each that should cross the river before the others, surly seeks the deepest
and quietest pools, to share with the others as they arrive.
To those who share the dream and the desire we all have come to love and
respect, I am proud to call you my "Friend". What a fine group of friends I
have found.
