The use of a net can be very difficult  with a 20lb salmon when you have a
rod in your other hand, and are fishing in very fast water.  As for release
the salmon  soon dies after spawning. even if they do not spawn they die.
Spawning or attempting to  is a one shot deal for these fish.  Rather than
let them rot on the river bank  I take one or two for the table.
