Well, Tyanna,
I don't know if I should blame you or me. Maybe I should say "We" and
include Amanda. After dinner I gave Theresa my fly tying guide so she could
look through it and see if anything struck her "Fancy". Now mind you, Amanda
has been tying for just over a year and is torn between a BHPT nymph and
something else, "But", Theresa has fallen in love with Streamers and
Atlantic Salmon flies, mainly because she likes the bright colors. She
pencil marked almost all of them and especially likes the "Gray Ghost", and
others that have jungle cock as cheeks. Needless to say I have absolutely
"No" jungle cock, so we may have to get creative. What have "we"
done...Don't know but I do like it. She is taking this seriously and that is
"Very" good, however I am not sure where we will find any Atlantic Salmon in
SE NM for her to try them on....;-)
Anyway, thought I would let you know what "You" did... with my help of
course...
Jimi

Mornin' Jimi,
I'm very eager to see Amada's flies. And, please tell Theresa that I'm not
that far removed from being a "first time tier" myself. Honestly, just a
mere three months. I'm sure with you and Amanda for encouragement, she'll do
well.
Tell Amanda "Good Job" on the rod thing, before you know it, she'll be out
fishing you! The desire to test my own flies is what finally got me moving.
I had 2 rods that were my Dad's (Old, heavy rods, that I could barely
manhandle). Finally got so tired of having to ask everyone I gave the flies
to how well it preformed, or didn't preform, and why, that I broke down and
picked up a 9' 5wt 4 pc backpack rod at a show I went to last month. $30.00
for the rod and Doug had an extra reel. I'm set! Now I grab Blake as soon as
he gets out of school, as often as the weather allows, and we take off for
our favorite lake, which is open all year and seldom has anyone at it.
Back to the swap, it doesn't look like it's going to be to big at this
point, probably no more than 12 or so, and we can put the date out a bit. I
know alot of other people, myself included, are already involved in any
number of swaps with due dates coming up in the next month or two. How does
May 24th sound? That would be my Dad's birthday, and I can't think of a
better way to honor his memory than to make it the due date on my first
swap. Let me know if this works for our Mother/Daughter Team.

OK here is the deal, Amanda says go for it, and she has convinced
Theresa to try it if you don't mind a first time tier. Theresa's only
concern was the # of flies and how long she had to do them in, ( If she dose
this lie everything else probably 85% will go in the recycle bin). Amanda
and I both agreed to work with her, but She will tie, we are already looking
at patterns.
So, if this is acceptable with you and the other tiers, you can have a
"Mother / Daughter" team in the swap. Amanda was telling me that now all we
need to do is get her a rod...smart kid.
Let me know your thoughts,
Jimi

Go for it Jimi, I'd love to have Amanda and Theresa in it. Let me know what
they say.
