Morning folks,
After getting up while ago from about 15 hours of sleep I am still a
bit weak and wobbly, but feel a bit better. When I did check my mail this
morning I was surprised to find over 60 messages wishing us well and
notifying us that we are on prayer lists around the country. Thank you all
my friends.
First off, "I" am still planning on making the Sowbug, a little hitch
like this is not going to stop my plans of seeing everyone. I just have a
few other things to take into consideration now.
Now for what happened. Yesterday morning I was up and running at my
normal 4:30 to 5 am routine. As soon as there was enough light I was out in
the shop playing with some new ideas and making some new parts for another
idea. I felt "OK" but noticed I was a bit slower than normal. I also noticed
that no mater where I went at least 2 of our cats was right next to me all
the time, something else kind of odd.
I went an checked mail about 8:30 and when I came back I was slightly
out of breath and Theresa said I looked pale. About 9:30 to 10:00 I
experienced a tightness in my chest and a sever stabbing headache in the
right temple area. It really caused me to just sit down where I was, ( Out
in the shop).Theresa noticed I had left my coffee in the house and brought
it out to me. When she came in the shop I was setting on the stool by the
mini lathe and she immediately said we were going to the emergency room.
Normal guy thing, "I was OK, just winded", she called out pastor and he
told her If I didn't want to go, he would come help her take me, I decided
now was not the time to be macho and listen to those that could see me
better than myself. We got to the emergency room about 11:30 and took me
right in.
They ran a blanket of tests, blood work, x-rays everything you could
think of. Dr.'s final call was that I had had a minor heart attack evident
from the elevated ?? whatever in my bloodwork and a few other things. He
suspects that it was caused by stress as there are no other mitigating
factors to promote it, ( not over weight and regular cholesterol levels).
Also the fact of heart trouble in my family, ( losing my dad in 79 and my
brother in 91 to heart attacks). He prescribed "Nitro" as a precautionary
step and also a stress test with some other tests. Also he wants me to
"Slow" down, ( gee, what other doctor have I heard that from), and also try
to stop worrying and reduce my stress level, ( Hard to do that when its to
cold or windy to go fly fishing...). We got home about 3:30 to 4, I napped
all the way home then napped till about 9 when Theresa woke me up so I could
go to bed.
As I said, I am still weak this morning and a bit more wobbly than
usual. I will probably miss teaching my Sunday school class for the first
time in several years today because I really don't feel well enough to get
out. I will probably wind up napping most of the day and reading some of the
books that miraculously arrived just in time for such an event.
Sorry for the long post, but so many of you have showed concern and well
wishes that I figured it was easier to post to the group rather than answer
each one individually. Am going to relax a bit and look over the atlas to
the Sowbug, I still plan on making it, so you that thought you would get off
easy, watch it, cause I plan to be in "Fine form". No stinking little
medical problem is going to stop me, I am promised that "I will not be given
more than I can handle", and I'm banking on that.
Thanks for the prayers, well wishes and kind thoughts,
Jimi, Theresa and Amanda
Folks,
Just got a call from Tresa, Jimi's wife.
Jimi had a heart attack last night or early this morning. I
did not get the time. Tresa said he is doing well but his
biggest concern was missing the Sowbug. He was released and
is on medication.
Lets keep Jimi and his family in our prayers.
