John, I'd play around with that one. I would be concerned about abnormal drag at that point and the integrity of 2 loop knots in tippet material vs. a surgeons or blood knot. Then again, I may be all wet. -Jeff

One last leader question. Could I take a tapered mono leader and cut it about 5 inches before the major change in size, in other words almost to the last bit of the tippet? Do this then in the last bit of tippet remaining put a loop knot. Then make a loop knot in my tippet material . Has anyone done this, and how would this be any different from the loop to loop connection on a furled leader.
