Keep in mind that bottom dredging will eat up your fly collection at a much faster rate....goes with the territory.
That in mind, keep the flies you tye for such efforts simple as pie... Joe Howell, owner of Blue Heron fly Shop on the Umpqua River, has devised a number of "barbell eyed leech " patterns that will prove very useful & effective.
I would feel confident fishing Gold Comets & Boss patterns tyed on Eagle Claw 1197 hooks or if you can't find them, TMC 700s... use those Spirit River "Dazl Eyes" instead of the standard beadchain eyes.... They weight alot more then beadcahin eyes, but the weight will invert the hooks so they ride point up.
I recall a fly called the Dredger...which is nothing more then Glo Bug yarn tyed together with a Non Toxic barbell eye on a short shank hook... the tail is usually white with the throat & equal length wing of a salmon egg colour...
hope this helps.....
