Heck, Rick.  I even tie some of my flies on Bass Worm hooks, especially steelie flies and bass bugs.  And I'm talking about hooks with the little barbs that hold a plastic worm in place.  Works really good in holding foam on hook for froggies.

I tie the flies on the hooks that I ahve.  I guress I am just not as much a purist as some other folks.  I suaually tie the flies on 3 or 4 size hooks any way.  Tie a few on Eagle Claw hooks becausd they are heavier, thatn some other others so they drop faster.
