Hey
Folks,
I have
a buddy in the Sand Box.
He
says the food is always an adventure.
He
went into the mess for breakfast. The menu was bacon, eggs, and pancakes
with maple syrup. Where he is at, the cooks are Pakistanis. He noted
the bacon was all gone, turns out the cooks wouldn't cook it, let alone touch
it. The Pakistanis are all Moslems. The eggs were
eggs. The pancakes were the most interesting. In Pakistan, they
don't eat pancakes as we know them. He identified the pancakes as little
nans (a flatbread). The maple syrup wasn't maple syrup, not even the
Devil's Juice (Aunt Jemima's).
So, I
sent him off some of Ontario's finest along with a bunch of TWIN BINGs (does any
know that candy bar?) . They enlightened the Pakistani cooks about the
finer art of pancake making and flipping. When the real maple syrup showed
up , they had pancakes with real maple syrup, eggs, and the bacon (cooked by an
American enlisted man).
Cheers,
Alberta Al
