I am not usre that there are many new pattern ideas now. Ian Moutter in the book "Tying Flies eh Paraloop Way" says "So once again it seems there is notheing new in fly tying and my foolish presumption was brougfht soundly back to earth. ... That I was not the origantor of the method is of no consequence, other than a slight nip to my ego."
I think that people may put things together differently than was done before. I do a foam spider with no thread. I have seen alot of spider with thread and have been told that no one else does the no thread. My feeling is that I have just not run onto the person doing it, or have not seen the book that it is in. I tie a luminescent bodied fly that has a small blade on the front of it like a road runner to use in murky water or when it is dark. I just combined a couple of things that I had seen on other flies. I think that we all have made variations inflies and have used a different material to do it. My ramblings, and I will go hide now.
